Understaffing in nursing homes has been a huge problem, impacting care and frustrating families. Next Step Health Care, operator of 16 nursing homes across Massachusetts was ordered to pay $4 million in a settlement with the Attorney General's office, for understaffing leading to harm and neglect. A monitor will be in place at 8 of the facilities.
